The Presbyterian Church of Cape Cod (PCCC) seeks to reflect and recapture the simplicity, reverence, & blessing of historic Reformed worship. We understand worship to be a response of praise & thanksgiving to God for His saving grace. For worship to be acceptable to God, it must be done in accordance with His Holy Word. Therefore in our worship services, we preach the Word of God, sing hymns which reflect the teachings of the Word of God, & pray according to the Word of God. Central to this worship is the proclamation & application of the Word of God. In all this, the PCCC stands in the tradition of Reformation faith & practice.
The PCCC is a Confessional church in that we adhere to the Westminster Confession of Faith & the Westminster Larger & Shorter Catechisms as our Doctrinal Standards because we believe them to contain the system of doctrine taught in the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. They are neither equal to Scripture nor above Scripture, but are received as accurate statements of the teaching of God’s Word, organized around several doctrinal themes for simplicity of both learning and teaching the message of Scripture to God’s people. The acceptance &/or full understanding of our Westminster Standards is not required for membership in the PCCC although our Church Officers (Ministers, Elders, & Deacons) must adhere to & vow to uphold the system of doctrine taught in the Westminster Standards.
The PCCC is a Presbyterian church in that we acknowledge Christ alone as the one King & Head of the Church who rules in His Church directly by His Word & Spirit as well as by the ministry of those men whom He chooses for ruling & teaching through His Word & Spirit. These men, holding the offices of Pastor & Ruling Elder, thus exercise Christ’s own authority & enforce Christ’s own laws in the Church because Christ has appointed them.
It is therefore as a Reformed, Confessional, & Presbyterian Church that the PCCC seeks to fulfill its calling on Cape Cod as a place of divine worship, mutual edification, & gospel witness. To God be the Glory!
